Dear Van and Anne,
I was deeply saddened to hear of "Mr. J.C's" passing. Thoughts of him conjured up fond memories of my youth, growing up next door on the Wire Road. Working in tobacco or baling hay with Mr. Waitus and Mr. J.C were experiences I've always remembered. And I'd be remiss not to mention Ms. Lucille and the store or meeting the school bus with you two at the "designated spot" between our houses!!
Please find some comfort knowing that your Dad had a positive influence on my life. My sincere condolences to you all and your families.

I enjoying working with J.C. when he was Sheriff. He was a very capable and dedicated public servant, who had a knack of defusing difficult situations with his manner and personality. "Well done, thou good and faithful [public] servant."
