Irving cut my hair for over a decade from age 12 to 22 and several times while in town after that. He was an entertainer, an excellent barber, and always had a funny story or joke to share. He will be remembered to me as the quintessential gentleman“s barber. .

So sorry to hear about Irving. He and Rusty made it difficult to sit still for a haircut while entertaining with their witty banter. In a different era they could have had a Vaudeville act. After leaving his chair at Oscars I'd go home with a good haircut, a belly full of laughs and some noteworthy fishing tips. RIP my friend. Harry Polychron

I greatly benefitted from knowing Irving for almost three decades. Not only was he an exemplary gentleman and charming conversationalist, but also an inspirational friend, yachtsman, and fisherman. It is certain that all who knew him are deeply saddened by his passing and will miss him greatly.

Irving was not just a barber he was a stylist. I ventured to see him for 20 plus years, and besides getting my hair cut, I was entertained by his marvelous stories about the navy, Charleston history and of course fishing. I will miss him, and peace be to him and his family.

My condolences to the Greenberg family. I use to go to the Charleston Inn on Saturday mornings with my dad to have Irving give him a cut and shave. Then I worked with Carl at Edwards. May his memory be a blessing to all that new him.
