Ladson - The Family and Friends of the Late Mother Iris Lee Garrett Heyward are invited to attend her Funeral Services on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 10:00 am, at Refuge Bibleway Church, Summerville, SC. A public viewing will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the funeral home from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Iris was born on November 23, 1949, to Mrs. Lonera Gumbs Dudley and Mr. Harvey Matthis, Sr. She married Bishop Herbert C. Heyward in 2000.Mother Iris Lee Garrett Heyward was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Herbert C. Heyward, step son-in-law Deacon Leroy Johnson, her sisters; Juanita Hunter Brown, Barbara Dudley, Janis Garrett, and Beatrice Matthis. Her brother, Harvey Matthis and brother-in-law, John Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving children; Lonnie Clifton III, Ian LaMar Garrett, stepchildren; Carlton Heyward, Mother Cynthia H Salley, Herbert Heyward, Jr., Bernard
