Loving memories of Aunt Irene. She was always fun and a loving sister to Estelle, Lois, Barbara and Bonnie.

I said before that the blanket making was too much pressure. It wasn't like that with Grandmere. She just didn't want to finish. Because it would be the end. I get that better.

I love that woman.
She made cake out of nothing.
She liked cornbread in buttermilk.
Her carrot and raisin salad still haunts me to this day.
I rubbed her feet while she rocked on this blue (?) recliner chair that was beat to death. It squeaked and my mother hated it. She would pound the remote, the "clicker" to get it to work. Pound pound pound. I don't think she wanted to replace the batteries.
In the Summer we would watch The Price is Right and play Gin Rummy. She said Bob Barker was a "handsome man". Yea, she really liked Bob Barker. I get it. She braided my hair so tight in these french braids. She said I looked like Brooke Shields.
She would put my cousin on a pillow and bounce her to sleep - swaying in the middle of the living room, all the while singing and humming songs - old songs that I do not know. Something about Moonlight love and harvest moons. My cousin, the baby Maharishi ...
-I am positive her arms hurt-
She is crocheting; always. the needle moving in motions.
(Its the only time she wears them)
she gets something like a scarf-size going...
(its going to be a blanket) then....half-slow and half-fast - shes pulls the yarn out.
Row after row after row.
Because you see Avis-She has missed a stitch.
and then she shows me the where and the why; the how and the what.and starts again.
Over and over.
Her fingers, bending inward in a most unnatural fashion. She has the arthritis. I rub her hands. She yelps. Too hard. I guess Im better at feet...
I wonder where those things are...the blanket she never finishes.
Maybe blankets are just too much pressure.
I get it.
I miss my Grandmere.

Irene's sister Bonnie was with us all in spirit this past week and I know all those beautiful sisters are smiling together now in celebration of their transit here on earth.
