Irene Harryman Obituary

HARRYMAN, Irene Irene Harryman, 86, of Charleston, SC, peacefully passed away on November 12, 2008. She was born on January 16, 1922 in Glossop, England to Henry and Edith Dewsnap. She served in the British Women's Land Army during WWII. In 1946, she came to America as a GI war bride and proudly attained her American citizenship. She enjoyed life as a homemaker and a substitute teacher in Baltimore, MD. Children were dear to her heart. She dedicated service to them as a brownie leader and through church programs. Irene and her husband, Carroll moved to Charleston in 1979 for the love of the Holy city and to enjoy being helpful grandparents. Since 2003, Irene had been a resident of the Life Care Center of Charleston, where she loved participating in many activities and formed many friendships. Irene had a gift for conversation and witty expressions. She would want to be remembered as a devout Christian that prayed earnestly for others. Irene was a devoted wife for 59 years to the late Carroll John Harryman. She was a loving mother to three daughters, Carole Stinchcomb who preceded her in death, jacqueline Fesenmeyer and June Fox. Irene was blessed with four grandchildren, Bethany Hendrson, Kenneth Collins, Heidi Treen and Ross Fesenemeyer. She has three great grandchildren and one expectant great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Arthur, Joe and Harry Dewsnap. She has nieces and nephews in England and America. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services for Irene Harryman on Friday, November 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Gardens Chapel.
