Dear Gracie, Mal-Mal and Ira ... I will miss your Dad driving by in the afternoon "checking things out" ... he was always there to help out if I needed a tool or some advice on the boat and help with the Bug. But most of all he was a great Dad to you guys. When we stopped on the road ... that was all he talked about ... how you guys were doing. You've had a tough year, like Susan said ... you know you can call or stop by if there is anything you need. I miss your Mom and Dad ... you guys are like family ... call anytime!

Kind in heart, bright in mind and a wonderful questioning smile. I feel very blessed to have had a little part of his crazy hair and his always trying to push it back out of his eyes....eyes that had lots to say. He was very special.

Ira, Grace, and Mallory, I was so very sad to hear of your dad's passing. He was a wonderful friend to my husband Charlie, they spent alot of time together growing up in Aiken. Your father had the most animated stories to tell about he and Charlie, Ricky, Bruce and Bill, and many more. They all hunted together at Tomotley and I would wait around until they returned to here of their exploits!Since hearing the news, Charlie and I have spent time remembering Ira and the friend he was. Many people are mentioning his smile, it was truly infectious. I hope you will take comfort during this time of loss in knowing that many people cared deeply for your dad. Kind regards, Tara

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I also went to St Angela's with him and have great memories of his infectious smile. I don't think there was a girl in Aiken who didn't have a crush on him at one time or another! He was a great guy and will be missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Your dad and I were high school classmates at St. Angela. It's funny over the years it's easy to remember the good things about people and that makes it easy to remember Ira. He always had a smile on his face, he was quiet yet funny and I don't think I ever heard him say something negative about anyone. He was positive addition to our high school class. My family's thought and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow in your hearts.

I first met Ira Woodhead when we were both about 13. He was riding his 1969 Yamaha 90 (purple tank) down Calhoun Place in Aiken and our gang of kids was mesmerized. We were still in the Briggs and Stratton mini-bike phase of life (or Sears & Roebuck 3-speed bikes) and here was this kid on a real motorcycle. We ended up at the same high school and became fast friends. Our friendship continued into adulthood as we both lived at Edisto Beach in our late teens/early 20s. Ira and I worked on shrimp boats together in the early 1980s including a memorable trip down to Brunswick GA where we shrimped for several weeks out of the Gisco dock. Over the years, as we both married and raised families, I saw Ira less and less frequently. I would make the trip up into Ira's Creek (Milton I think) to see him once or twice a year. It's one of life's many ironies that when we build our own flesh and blood families, we tend to lose touch with the families of our past; childhood friends and parents. And no doubt, as a teen and young adult, the Woodheads were a big part of my family, and I theirs, both at Mullets Manor on Edisto, and in Aiken at the big old Tudor house on Two Notch Road. Anyway, I hadn't seen Ira in the past 3-years. I'm deeply sorry to hear of his passing and guilty that I couldn't have been there to try to help him through difficult times. I'll always remember that kid on the Yamaha 90. God speed Ira and ride on.

To you, Ira's children and family, it is deflating to hear of your father Ira's death. He and I went to St. Angela Academy together and while I didn't know him well, whenever I saw him, he always put a smile on my face. Wherever he and the Pryor brothers were, hilarity soon followed. Please accept my prayers and hugs of comfort as you grieve, but also know that your father brought great joy to those in his life and those memories live on, just as he lives on in the three of you. The next time I'm in Edisto my smile will be for Ira as I see his presence across the Island. Much care for you all.

I am deeply saddened by Ira's passing. Ira was a very close friend of mine growing up in Aiken. He and I were a part of a very close group of friends who did everything together for many years...Aiken Prep School, Saint Angela's Academy, sports cars, motorcycles, peach sheds, rock quarry diving, hunting, fishing, Tomotley plantation, Hilton Head, Edisto beach...
I miss those days and will miss Ira. Ira lives on in my memories of those wonderful times. Rest in peace my dear friend.

The Timmerman Family in Aiken would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the Woodhead Family. I enjoyed playing soccer against Ira/Aiken Prep when I was at Aiken Day School. Then our friendship continued in High School at St. Angela. Our parents had a wonderful friendship, through Aiken's social activities and also being a part of the Graniteville Company "family".
May god be by your side at this time of need.

Dear Mallory, Grace and Ira,
I was very saddened to hear of Ira's passing. I first met him when we were young teens during our years at Aiken Prep and St. Angela together. He was a good classmate and a very likable man. His mother and my mother were very close friends going all the way back to their college years. I last saw Ira at his mother's funeral.
May God comfort your hearts during this time of grief and loss.
Sincerely,
