Ida Engel Obituary

ENGEL, Ida Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 25, 2006, Ida Levin Engel, wife of Louis B. Engel. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Engel are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Thursday, April 27, 2006 at eleven o'clock at the graveside in Emanu-El Cemetery, Maryville . Mrs. Engel was born March 24, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Gabriel Levin and Fraidyl Levin. She was a graduate of the Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA and served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. during World War II. She retired from MUSC as a registered nurse and was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El. She served her community with the PTA at Rivers and James Simmons Schools. She was a member of Sisterhood of Emanu-El and Brith Sholom Beth Israel. She was Chairman of Chevra Kadisha and a member of Hadassah, Amit Women, National Council of Jewish Women and an Alumni Associate of Albert Einstein Center School of Nursing and she was an American Red Cross Nurse. She is survived by her husband of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Francine Engel Robin of Savannah, GA; two sons: Dr. Michael J. Engel and Dr. Andrew I. Engel both of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren: Brian, Anne and Marc Robin all of Savannah, GA and Jennie, Chloe, Taylor, Blake, and Ethan Engel all of Charleston, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407, American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406, or Addlestone Hebrew Academy, 1639 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407 or Coastal Carolina Alzheimers Chapter Association, P.O.
