Kristin and Family:
I am so very sorry for your loss and extend my heartfelt sympathy.
Bert was a long time dear friend and colleague for over 43 years. He hired me from the Carbon lab to work for him in the Ag Chem lab. I will never forget the all the good times and fun we had working and travelling together. I learned so much from him and he was a tremendous asset to my career. I respected him for his intellect and his keen insight of human nature. We enjoyed many days shooting, hunting, fishing, and just enjoying nature. I was quite often "humbled by Humbert" and consider myself extremely fortunate to have known him and his equally fine family all these years. He stopped by to visit with me just a few months ago and we had a delightful chat. On January 30th, I met him and Fred Baker at the Rua Madra for a beer (or two).
Bert will be sadly missed.

It really hurts to lose another close friend. We traveled the world together and I learned so much from Bert. Working together in various places around the world made work fun. I will miss our "steak nights" with Bert and John.

Bert was a friend and my husband I both worked with him. When you were little, Kristen, I rode to work with you and Bert. We'd drop you off at daycare in Hanahan and on to work. We always enjoyed talking with Judy at office gatherings. I have fond memories of walking through life with them. May God surround you in His everlasting Love.
