Nick was a great friend to me and the rest of the LoPresti family. We first met Nick at the Oshkosh race he used to run. We later competed with Nick at the CAFE races in California. Nick and my father Roy spent lots of time discussing how to make airplane go faster, they were both very passionate about that subject. Nick told the best stories I have ever heard. Nick lived a very colorful exciting life and enjoyed himself immensely. He was extremely entertaining and was a lot of fun to be around. My deepest condolences to his friends and family... we all loved him.

I met Nick in 1990 when he came to Spartanburg to test and buy engines from our company for his Lightening Bug. The company was called AMW at that time. He and Howell ended up buying that company and moving it to Beaufort. I followed. I ended up living on the plantation for 8 months in the cottage while waiting for my property to sell in Greenville county. I then worked for Nick and Howell for several years and became close to them both. For the last 15 years, I have always returned to Beaufort and enjoyed visiting with Nick. He was really something. I have several of my own stories to tell about him. I will always remember my friend Nick Jones.

Nick was a good friend of my wife's sister. He was a very smart man. In the early days of this friendship he would fly to Barnwell and buzz our house so we could pick him up at airport. Sorry to learn of his passing. Please know that the family is in our thoughts and prayers.
