Howard Carlisle Obituary

CARLISLE, III, Howard SPARTANBURG - Howard Bobo Carlisle, III, age 84, died December 25, 2008 at Eden Terrace. Mr. Carlisle was the husband of the late Joline Wallace Carlisle, and a son of the late Howard Bobo and Sarah Montgomery Carlisle, Jr. He attended Spartanburg city schools and was a graduate of N.C. State. Mr. Carlisle honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and was an officer in the Korean War. He retired from the printing industry with more than 50 years of service. Mr. Carlisle was a past president and trustee of the "Printing Industry of the Carolinas". He served on the District 7 school board and was a past member of the Country Club of Spartanburg, Piedmont Club, Rotary, Kiwanis Club and Spectator Club. Mr. Carlisle maintained a residence on the Isle of Palms where he pursued his love of boating, sailing and the beach. He was a deacon and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Mr. Carlisle is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward Lee Inabinett and husband Buddy; a son, Mr. Howard Bobo Carlisle, IV. and wife Elizabeth Irwin; five grandchildren, Dr. and Mrs. Howard Bobo Carlisle, V., Mr. Samuel C. Carlisle, Mr. Edward Lee Inabinett; Miss Elizabeth C. Carlisle and Miss Molly Stuart Inabinett; and a sister, Louisa Carlisle Horne. He was predeceased by a brother, James Montgomery Carlisle. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Maggie, his caregiver, for all of her love and support. Cryptside services will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Heritage Mausoleum Chapel in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Reverend Susan Moorefield. The family will receive friends following the service at cryptside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303 or to Mobile Meals, 419 E Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Our deepest sympathy to the Carlisle Family. Howard was a Gentleman's Gentelman. I have many fond memories of Him and I will keep Him in my prayers.
