Horace Tanton Obituary

Horace Laaman "Tiny" Tanton CROSS, SC - Horace Laaman "Tiny" Tanton, III, 74, of Cross, husband to Elizabeth Annette Tidwell Tanton, passed away June 28, 2012 in his residence. Born in Fort Worth, TX, he was the son of the late Horace L. Tanton, Jr. and Doris Bell Tanton. Mr. Tanton served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, retiring after twenty years as a Technical Sergeant. After serving his country, he worked for Bellsouth for twenty-one years before retiring in 1997. Mr. Tanton loved his family and enjoyed bowling and fishing with them. He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Elizabeth Tanton, two sons, Mark Edwin Tanton and wife Cora of Goose Creek and Kevin Charles Tanton and wife Pamela of Summerville; daughter, Melissa Lynn Mahan and husband David of Johns Island; brother, Edwin Lee "Buddy" Tanton and wife Joyce of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Hurst and husband Teddy, Chris Tanton, Michelle Tanton, Nikki Helms, Maria Helms, Erin Helms, Allen Keck and wife Patricia, Jessica Dodson and husband Bryan, Corey Tanton, Craig Tanton, Cooper Mahan, Megan Mahan, Mackenzie Mahan and great grand- children, Joshua Dodson, Aiden Hurst and one great grandchild on the way. A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 St. James Avenue.
