Hilda McLean Obituary

McLEAN, Hilda MYRTLE BEACH - Hilda Brant McLean, 95 of Myrtle Beach went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2008. Hilda was a longtime resident of Myrtle Beach and resided at Plantation Point and Grand Strand Healthcare. Born in 1913 at Olar, South Carolina, she attended Allendale Fairfax High and graduated Valedictorian. She moved to Charleston as a young woman where she was employed with The Naval Base, Department of Intelligence. It was there she met her husband Guy P. (Patrick) McLean who was a lumber inspector for the Government. The couple moved to Myrtle Beach in the mid-40's where they started Resort Lumber Co., McLean Concrete Co. and the McLean Motel. Hilda managed the Motel where she enjoyed meeting the people who stayed there. She was also a homemaker and devoted mother. Hilda was very active for many years in the Women's Circles at First Presbyterian Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Guy Patrick McLean, 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Hilda is survived by one daughter, Linda Shaw McLean and Henrietta Golding. A special thanks to her devoted caregivers at Grand Strand Healthcare, Winyah Community Hospice Care and Dr. Lynn Brook. Hilda McLean will be remembered for her strong constitution, Southern charm and giving heart toward people and animals. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery outdoor Chapel with the Rev. William Christian, Executive Director of Star Gospel Mission in Charleston, South Carolina, officiating. In In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Star Gospel Mission, 474 Meeting Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29403-9973 or Winyah Community Hospice Care, 137 Professional Lane, Pawleys Island, South Carolina 29585.
