Hermine E.P. Stanyard Charleston - The family of Mrs. Hermine Elvena Payne Stanyard, widow of the late Mr. George D. Stanyard, Sr., extends an invitation to her public viewing on Sunday, December 6, 2020, 2:00-6:00 pm at the Smith-McNeal Funeral Home, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC. There will be a private family service (by invitation only) and interment on Monday, December 7, 2020. She is survived by her children, Geormine (Alonzo) Stanyard-Crawford and G. Dewey Stanyard; granddaughter, Candice (Megan) Crawford-Zakian; siblings, Cyrus C. (Demetra ) Washington, Sr., Willie Dell (Henry) Taylor and Barbara Payne; godchildren, Antionette E. (William) Bennett-Bluford and Rev. Marionette E. Bennett; in-laws, Eunice Washington, Jenny Lou Washington, John Nathaniel, Thomas and Morris Ashe, Mary Brown, Rose Whitney and Glenemae Johnson; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. To the Family of The Late Mrs. Hermine Stanyard, the Fludd Family from Mt. Pleasant, SC would like to express & extend our condolences to you. Several of our family members including myself, Mrs. Stanyard taught as well as my older sister Dorothy was one of her co-workers (Teacher) at Laing High School, Mt. Pleasant, SC. I am glad I had a chance to visit with her several times in her latter years; she was a sweet and receptive lady. "Rest in Peace from your Labor on Earth, Mrs. Stanyard."

I always loved the poetry she penned and talent she shared. Do find consolation, family, in knowing that she is resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father from whom all blessings flow. Dewey and Geormine and family- I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. The pain and grief of losing one so close is never easy and I pray God's comfort for you and your family in this time. Geormine, Dewey, and Family: Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Mrs. Stanyard was a great, life-long, “old school” educator. I enjoyed your parents’ hospitality many times in our youth. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My condolences to your wonderful family.
