I had the priviledge to work with Herbie at the Treasurer's office for 5 years. He was such an inspiration to me. He showed such compassion and common sense. I throughly enjoyed his insight. I was truly blessed to know him and his service to his country and the Charleston area. He will be forever remembered by all who knew him.

Herbe will be sorely missed. His love for The Citadel was evident and he was an avid supporter of the school. He held
a number of positions which enhanced the
goals and purposes of the institution. He was a very devoted family man and an outstanding friend. I was fortunate to be his roommate during our freshman year
and have cherished his friendship for 64 years.
