Herbert Stanley Obituary

STANLEY, Herbert VARNVILLE - Mr. Herbert H. "Buddy" Stanley, 62, of 45 Pontiac Lane near Varnville, died Thursday afternoon at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Stanley was born in Hampton County, April 17, 1944; a son of the late Miles Benjamin Stanley and Hazel Katherine Campbell Stanley. He was a carpenter for over 42 years and was presently working with Ethington Construction Company in Ridgeland. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church near Hampton and loved to fish and spend time with his family. He had been married for 38 years to his wife, Annie E. Drawdy Stanley of the home. Surviving besides his wife are son, Buddy "Bucky" Stanley and wife Ginger of Varnville; daughters, Melissa Long and husband Marvin of Varnville, and Lisa Ethington and husband Jamie of Pineland; sisters, Lillie Bumgardner of Gloverville, and Libby S. Drawdy of Walterboro; grandchildren, Travis and Stephanie Long. Mr. Stanley was predeceased by a sister, Marian Drawdy and a brother, Aaron Homer Stanley. There are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grace Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Robert King, with burial in the Thames Cemetery near Varnville, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON. Friends may call at the residence located at #45 Pontiac Lane near Varnville after 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday until the hour of service. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.
