Herbert Kennedy CHARLESTON - Herbert Lynn Kennedy, 78, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Born on March 3, 1946, in Kingstree, SC, was a Son of the late Mattie Kennedy (Knight) and Herbert Kennedy. Lynn was a veteran of the US Navy. Growing up, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Lowcountry. He was a long time member of First Assembly of God in West Ashley. He met his wife, Jaima, playing on their co-Ed church softball team. Since retiring in 2012, Lynn loved spending time with his grandchildren and mowing the lawn on his John Deere. He was an avid Gamecock fan, especially football and women's basketball. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mattie Sue Kennedy. Lynn is survived by Jaima Kennedy (Spouse), Jordan Faulk (Anthony), Erin Vaden (Jon), Matthew Kennedy (Adrienne), and Tanner Kennedy; Grandchildren, Knox Kennedy, Ford Faulk, Noah Kennedy, Ethan and Aurora Vaden; sisters, Wanda Painter, Sylvia Ham, Lenora Presley (Keith), and Trina Grafton. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14th, from 2 to 3pm, with a service to follow at 3pm, at Charleston First, 2957 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Palmetto Cremation Society.

Hello Jaima, and family, I was so very sorry to learn that Lynn was ill, and had passed last Saturday. I send my deepest condolences to all of you, his sisters and extended family, which includes myself as his cousin. He was just 5½ months younger than me, and though I lived in Columbia, we visited regularly growing up and I loved him and his family very much. My thoughts and prayers will be with each of you tomorrow, and it is with regret that I won't be able to attend his service. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time with the knowledge that Lynn abides with his Savior.

Dear Jaima.
My name is Regas Kennedy and I am a cousin of Lynns. I am sadden to read about his passing. Even though we did not interact with one another I always loved Uncle Herbert, Aunt Sue, Lynn and his sisters. All of you have my deepest sympathy and be assured I will be praying for you knowing that our Lord will be sufficient for you in your time of need. With regrets I cannot attend the service because I am recovering from recent spinal surgery.
