Herbert Adams Obituary

Herbert Horace Adams ANDREWS, SC - Herbert Horace Adams, 91, widower of Laura Louise Couch Adams, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Mr. Adams was born in Cottageville on October 2, 1923, a son of the late Grover Cleveland Adams and Minnie Lee Dandridge Adams. He grew up in Cottageville and served in the U.S. Army's 90th Division during World War II. Mr. Adams was a recipient of the Purple Heart, which he received during his service in Germany. He was retired from Farm Equipment Company after 50 years of employment. Mr. Adams was one of the oldest Lion's Club members in Andrews. He was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Surviving are: a daughter, Louise A. Byrdic (Billy) of Andrews; two granddaughters, Stephanie Byrdic of Myrtle Beach and Wyndie B. Moree (Ged) of Pawleys Island; a grandson, Will Byrdic (Tiffani) of Charleston; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Allie Byrdic. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Adams was predeceased by: three brothers, Willie Seal "Bill" Adams, Wade "Hampton" Adams, and James Allen Adams; and a sister, Emma Jean Adams. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2015, at Andrews First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Sapp. Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from one until two o'clock. Dear Mrs. Byrdic,

On behalf of Commander Ed Jayroe and the Legionnaires at Post 69 we extend our deepest sympathy and our prayers in the passing of our beloved Comrade Herbert Horace Adams. We are so proud of his service to our community, state and nation. We know Herbert was proud of being an American Legion Member for 65 years. He will always be remembered as one of The Greatest Generation who served in combat to keep the Light of Liberty glowing in the Free World.Herbert is now a member of Post Everlasting and reports to the Greatest Commander of them all Our Lord Jesus Christ. We have placed a Flag on the resting place of our beloved Comrade and will do so every Memorial Day.
