Henry Welborn Obituary

Henry Forsberg Welborn CHARLESTON - Henry Forsberg Welborn entered into eternal rest early in the morning on February 6th, 2014. "Hank" was one of the kindest souls one could meet, and truly had a heart of gold. Hank was down to earth and had a very likable personality. He was born in Charleston, a son of William Acie and Margaret Forsberg Welborn, on October 10th, 1951. Hank was raised in the middle of eight children, seven boys and one girl. He graduated from St Andrews High School and attended Spartanburg Junior College. Hank's career path followed in his father's footsteps and he enjoyed success estimating and supplying steel for the construction of many local buildings and bridges. Hank loved sports and was also known for his charities. One of his favorites was half rubber. Hank and a few friends started a half rubber tournament before the summer season to raise money benefitting the children of Camp Good Times. One of the most precious aspects that we all shall cherish is Hank's unconditional love for his family. Hank is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Pamela Welborn, who was his confidant and his everything. He is also survived by his sons, Eric Mark Welborn and Robert "Bobby" Faulkner; Sons In Law, Ernesto Sierra and Jeremy Weaver; Daughters, Erica Marie Welborn, Charlo Mischelle Sierra, Danielle Millar and Lisa Millar; as well as four grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Wyatt Antonio Faulkner, Rosalie Isabella Sierra, Scarlett Avery Welborn, and Dakota Welborn Kuzela, all of Charleston; Sister, Sandra Welborn Renzy of Flint Hill, VA; Brothers, William E. "Billy" of Conroe TX, Lloyd G. of Bonneau SC, Nolan "Paul", Charles L. "Larry" and Mark H., all of Charleston. Henry's guestbook may be signed at JamesAMcAlister.com. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions towards final expenses will be accepted at any First Federal Bank in the name of Henry F. Welborn PO Box 1196 Folly Beach SC 29439 or mail to First Federal Of Charleston 1185 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC, 29412. Arrangements by JAMES A. MCALISTER. 766-1365. Pam, I know this must be such a difficult time for you. We are both so sad that Hank has passed. Not only will we miss our fishing buddy, but we will truly miss his kind soul. He loved you and his family so much. He would talk to us about holding his marriage on a pedestal. We adored him and you and will miss Hank tremendously. Call us if we can help you with anything. Our deepest sympathies.

Hank was a great buddy. We grew up together in Ashly Hall Manor. Swam in CanonBall Creek, climbed through every house as it was built in Ashly Hall Manor. Ran the paved streets barefoot, hitch-hiked to Folly Beach and Downtown. Took Karate lessons at the old Chas. Police Dept. We coached the PeeWee football team at Orange Grove Playground for several years. We would double up on a bicycle to go visit our girlfriends ( Mary and Linda) back in Jr. High. Sincere condolences to the family. I know he'll be missed. May God give you peace and comfort and sweet memories.

Hank was an inspiration to me as I had the opportunity to speak with him in the last two years and he was always upbeat. In the face of such an exhausting battle, he held his head high. God Bless You Hank, RIP. And God Bless his family!!

We are so sorry about your Dad's passing.
We are never prepared for this. Just hold onto the memories of your Father in your heart and you will always have him with you. We love you and are always here for you Eric and for your family. You and Wes have been friends for so long and your friendship means so much to him and to us. We think of you as our "adopted" son.
With our prayer and thoughts,
Phrona and Charlie Lybrand

Hank's friendship was both enduring and rewarding. Those days of our youth recall many a occasions when laughter overcame otherwise dire circumstances. He was unique in his ability to draw a smile from those he met for the first time. May his family find solace in the life he lived unselfishly - truly for the benefit of others. God bless him!
