Henry Torres Obituary

TORRES, SR., Henry RIDGELAND, SC - Henry A. Torres Sr., 84, died Friday, November 3, 2006 in Macon, GA. He was born in Brownsville, TX on January 20, 1922. He was the son of the late Juan Prado Torres and Marcelina Gadu Torres. He owned and operated Ridgeland Piggly Wiggly for 30 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a fifty year member and Past Master of American Lodge #98. He served on the Board of Education for Jasper County and was a former member of the Board of Directors of Thomas Heyward Academy. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II serving in China, India and Burma. He is survived by his wife, Fran D. Torres of Ridgeland, SC; one son, Henry A. (Meg) Torres Jr. of Ridgeland, SC; two daughters, Cindy (Tom) Scott of Macon, GA and Karen Torres of Palm Beach, FL; one brother, Charles Torres of Corpus Christi, TX ; two sisters, Irma Hawthorne of Oroville, CA and Austa Saldona of Corpus Christi, TX; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 5, 2006 in the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Ridgeland, SC with burial in the Grahamville Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Heartland Hospice of Macon, GA; Holy Trinity Episcopal Church; Grahamville Cemetery Fund c/o Holy Trinity Episcopal Church or the charity of choice.
