Henry Lamb Obituary



LAMB, Henry Mr. Henry "Hank" Norwood Lamb, age 89, husband of Mrs. Katharine Peters Lamb, of Hanahan, passed away at his home in the early morning hours on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Friends and family of Mr. "Hank" Lamb are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:00 am at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Burial and full military honors will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The visitation will be held at the funeral home this evening, Thursday, April 17, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Mr. Henry "Hank" Norwood Lamb was born in East Port (Annapolis), MD on November 8, 1918 to the late Mr. Robert H. Lamb and the late Edna Pearl Norwood Lamb. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country from 1940 to 1962. He earned many medals while in the Navy including the WWII Victory Medal, American Defense Medal, American Champion Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Navy Occupation of Asia Medal, United Nation Service Medal, Korean Service Star and China Service Star. Mr. Lamb was also a Pearl Harbor survivor and was proud to share stories about that historic day. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5091 in North Charleston. "Hank" also enjoyed bowling, fishing, crabbing, shrimping and was an avid NASCAR fan and baseball fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Katharine F. Peters Lamb; four daughters Kay Vierra of Mount Pleasant, SC, Linda Priester of Hanahan, SC, Deborah Engermann of Sumter, SC and Elizabeth Bode of Bonneau, SC; one sister, Lucille "Lou" Hines of Arnold MD; seven grandchildren, Henry Hernandez, Dana Priester, Christine Smith, Jason Engermann, Ssgt. Robert Engermann, Jessica West and Rebecca Browning; and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Lamb was preceded in death by his parents, the late Mr. Robert H. Lamb and the late Edna Pearl Norwood Lamb, two brothers, the late Mr. Robert Lamb and Albert (Bootsie) Lamb, and one sister, the late Barbara Lee. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home or memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Henry Lamb's honor to Palmetto Hospice, 1815 Old Trolley Road, Summerville, SC 29485 or to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. To Linda and her family. You and your family are in my prayers. I will be continuing my prayers for peace in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that the pain of his loss will slowly become a sweet memory.

You have our deepest sympathy for the loss of Henry. I worked with him in REB2 at POMFLANT and was training to replace him when he retired. I have very fond memories of him.
