Harry and Mary Pope,

I am so sorry to hear about Heno. The Rivers family always thought of him as being a great guy and a great friend. We will certainly miss his intellect and jovial personality. If I can do anything for you please feel free to call on me.

John and I both have special feelings for Heno because he was such a good friend of our parents and a part of many occasions that remain wonderful memories. We hold the Hutsons and Dodds in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Hutson family. I have nothing but the fondest memories of Heno while I was at CS, and he was such a wonderful headmaster, teacher, friend and mentor.

Heno was a good friend of mine. While I just missed him at Christ School, we spent many mornings at Jack's Cafe discussing my future in the financial planning business. He was a great man. Thank you for everything Heno.

Heno's smile will forever be ingrained in my mind. He had a way of making one feel special when chatting - pleasant visits to the Hutson house while visiting my brothers at Christ School or seeing him in Charleston. My heart aches for his loss - Joe and I send loving sympathy to Harriett, Mary Pope, Elliott & Bonnie.

I can't tell you how very sorry I am to hear of Mr. Hutson's passing. He was a great Headmaster at Christ School and wonderful Godfather to me. I got to know him much better after the Christ School years and always had a big laugh w/ him down at CYC.
He had a great and positive influence and made a difference in so many lives at Christ School and beyond.Unfortunately I am working overseas and will not be able to attend the services.

Another chapter ends. And a great one. I had the privilege to enjoy his Spanish Class and somehow he let me pass. One of the special teachers during a special time of my life. He will be missed greatly.

So hard to believe that my friend and colleague of so many years is gone... We're in the mountains and regrettably will not be able to come down for the funeral, but we send our deepest condolences to the family. We will be in touch soon.

The world is diminished without you among us. You always gave me good advice and counsel, because your essential goodness and integrity were apparent-to me and all who knew you. Though you are no longer among us, you have a place deep in our hearts.

I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. Hutson from my time at Christ School - a gentleman, a scholar, a good soul. He and his wonderful wife always had a kind word for this displaced Navy brat. My prayers and condolences to the entire Hutson family.

Heno was true Charleston gentleman, a CS legend and all around hell of a nice guy. You will be sorely missed and the world is sadder place today.

Our deepest condolences to Harriet, Elliott and Mary Pope. We celebrate the life of Heno - he gifted so much to so many with his friendship, tutelage and leadership. Thank you for setting our sights on higher standards through your examples – what a wonderful mentor.

Sad to hear, but I will always have very fond memories of Mr. Hutson. He always had that querky smile on his face, which meant he knew what you were thinking and what you had done. I always admired him and loved the worn smooth CS ring. He was a student's headmaster. Always willing to give somebody a second chance. A true Southern gentleman.

He was a Great Headmaster at Christ School. Always very kind, caring and thoughtful of the students including me which was probably sometimes hard to do. I enjoyed the opportunity to serve underneath his leadership.

Mr. Hutson started teaching at Christ School the year I started as a student there in 1963. He was a kind and generous man who always kept an eye out for me and our class through the years. I will miss him.

Thank you for showing me a way forward when all paths seemed blocked. May your way remain ever clear.

So sad to miss the chance to say thank you to a man who was so kind to all of us as children (can't speak for the boys at school) but certainly for Mary Pope's friends. Always a smile on his face. Charleston will be a sadder place without his warmth.

What a great person I became to know so close while he was at Christ School and afterwards. A great contributor to education,society and our fellow man. His humor and smiles will always be remembered. He will greatly missed. CS'70
