Henry Hickman Obituary

Henry Minnis Hickman GOOSE CREEK - Henry Minnis Hickman, 83, of Goose Creek, formerly of Charleston, SC died November 8, 2016. Mr. Hickman was born August 9, 1933 at Wiggins, SC (Colleton Co) the son of the late Joseph Bedon Hickman and Gertrude Ivy Ritter Hickman. He attended Green Pond Elementary school and Walterboro High School. He completed his education after joining the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan for 3 years where he was a teletype technician. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he was hired by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad as a communications technician where he served until his retirement. Henry was a kind and generous hearted person always willing to help his fellow man. He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Ritter, SC and he loved hunting, fishing and boating. He is survived by his brothers: Joseph Curtis Hickman (Miriam) of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Edward Hickman Phillips of Elberton, GA, sister: Marjorie Hickman Brown of Walterboro, SC and one sister-in-law: Erma B. Hickman of Ladson, SC, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother: John Emmett Hickman. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the love and care shown Henry by the Doctors and staff at Pinewood House in Goose Creek and the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. The relatives and friends of Henry M. Hickman are invited to attend his funeral services on Saturday November 12, 2016 at 11 AM at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. I have many fond memories of our cousin Henry over the years. I will miss him at the Hickman reunions. Rest in peace, Henry.
