Henry Edwards, Jr. N. Charleston - Henry Russell "Eddie" Edwards, Jr., 90, of North Charleston, retired United States Navy and husband of the late Claudia Gentry Edwards, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Eddie was born October 11, 1930 in Collbran, AL to the late Henry Russell Edwards, Sr. and Bernice Irene Day. Eddie grew up in Fort Payne, AL and joined the Navy at an early age, retiring after 20 years of service. He last served on the U.S.S. Sturtevant and then retired from Mobay Chemical in Goose Creek, SC. Eddie was a member of the Shriners in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He traveled to many steel guitar conventions and ship reunions. Surviving are children, Reva Carlton Box (Alan), William Carlton, Jr. (Cindy) and Gary Carlton; grandchildren, Bridget Carlton, William Carlton, III (Kimberly), Dustin Cummings (Melissa); 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; niece, Judy Shuttle and Special great-niece, Carrol Bains. A crypt-side service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00pm at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be viewed and shared at www.carolinamemorial.com.
