Henry Butehorn Obituary

A wonderful physician and person! He truly cared about the well-being of his patients.

I was saddened to hear about Dr. Fred's passing. I knew him through our dear friends, Chris and Caroline Butehorn, while living in Mount Pleasant. He was a very down to earth individual and always fun to be around. He had a witty humor, enjoyed socializing, dancing, eating and being merry. He was short like me so we could always see eye to eye on things. I have some fond memories of both he and Mrs Joan as well - especially when it came to Gamecock football and the infamous "Crow" of the Gamecock. Mrs. Joan also knew how to put Fred in his place too which was funny - amazing couple / parents / friends to many. I know Fred will be missed by not only his family, but his personal friends, colleagues, patients and many others who he may have encountered in his path. I extend our families' deepest condolences and wish peace be extended to the entire Butehorn family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help at this time. God bless!

Fred was a trusted colleague and friend, the epitome of a "Doctor's Doctor."
The patients we shared were always appreciative of their comprehensive and compassionate evaluation and care.

I cherish the memories of our friendship and professional collegiality. His compassionate care for his patients, including my family, was exemplary.

My sincerest sympathy is extended to family and friends of Dr. Henry ( Fred) Butehorn. He was a very smart , caring man - and he loved to teach us all his wisdom working together in the OR for many years! I loved his sense of humor- making us laugh even in tough situations. I later used him to care for my own children ... he was so loving and sincere to all his patients.

Dr Butehorn was a pleasure to work with. I worked with him at SRHS Outpatient for 10 years. He was a kind man. He will be missed and my prayers and condolences are with his family.

So sad to hear of Fred's passing. We both attended Advent Lutheran as youth and were classmates @ North Charleston High. We had fun times performing in The Echo's quartet in our junior and senior years. A great, life-long friends. Condolences to the family.

He was a very kind soul. He taught me a lot while working by his side and how to have thick skin when I was young and learning. The life of the party and I will never forget his kindness to me and all of his patients. He loved his family and it always showed. He will be missed!

No one will ever be able to replace Dr. Butehorn's compassion, empathy towards his patients, or humor. He was a southern gentleman who has been sorely missed in the ENT medical arena.
