Janet and family, I had sent an earlier note I had thought, but, obviously it was not submitted correctly. Bob and I are just competely heartbroken over Henry's death. His illness grabbed him so unexpectedly and moved so quickly that we are still in a state of disbelief. He was such a good man, a wonderful and a fun neighbor. Bob and I had many laughs with him while the three of us would be out there working and laughingly teasing each other about whose leaves were on whose property and especially the MOLES ! I think Henry was pretty sure that Bob was operating a big mole farm over here and sending them to HIS yard.
One of the favorite laughs we shared with him was when a couple of years ago, Bob while out for his morning walk around the neighborhood would lways pick up any treasures he found by the wayside, such a a rusty nail, nuts and bolts or even a penny now and then. On his return back down the street he would slide his daily collection to the back of Henry's mailbox. This went on for quite a while and Henry got wise to the fact that this was not being done by a kid in the neighborhood, but by a very mature-gray-haired-senior citizen. That Christmas Bob walked out the front door and there sitting on the steps was a beautifully wrapped present with HIS name on it. Anticipating a surprise from ole Santa himself, he opened the box and found that Henry had taken an empty shoe box which he filled with the collection of "treasures" he had found in his mailbox.-and given them back to Bob ! What a laugh our family has had over that so many times!!
Henry had such a great sense of humor and could always see fun in any situation.
We will miss him so very much in so many ways. Henry was always so well-groomed even when he was doing his yardword. We loved him and we love each of you. We are just next door and on the other end of that phone if you should need us for anything at all. We know all this has really just left each of you just heartbroken. I pray that God will wrap you under his wings of love and show each of you how to draw strength one from the other. You may be sure that you now have a very special guardian angel watching over you with the same love he has always had. God's peace and love to all of you. Margaret and Bob Sams-Shamrock Lane

I worked with Henry, but left Charleston in 1969, but met him again at Scottish Rite Temple. Henry was a true GENTLEMAN AND SCHOLAR.

Dear Kenny, Janet and Family:
I just found out about Henry. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I kind of lost touch with everybody and everything since I moved to Aiken, SC. Henry was always a special friend to me, not only at work, but in the Masonic Lodge. I'm sorry I did not get to attend his funeral, since my wife is not well, and I cannot leave her for any extended time. I'm sure it was well attended.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Bill and Liz Leopard, Aiken, SC

Aunt Janet,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Donna and Vickie and their families during this season of grief.

I was just remembering Uncle Henry as the tall dark uncle that was always so attentive to his family. Even though my adult life has been so removed from your precious family, that is my childhood memory. It seems that I spent a week with you in Charleston one summer when I was growing up.

Even though life is so brief, we have such hope of seeing our love ones again in Heaven because of what our loving Saviour did for us on the cross. He said that He was going to prepare a place for us.

I'll be praying that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, will see you through this time when it must seem that your world is falling apart.

With much love,
