H.L. meant "Hard Labor" for this 8th grader at Simonton JHS. It was her tough love that caused me to later love applying grammatical structure and analysis to my daily skills. She was also a stickler for diction. Never got a chance to tell her "Thank You." She was one of the many strong teachers that fostered the challenge to leap forward into an unseen/unknown career and future. The ability to dream/daydream our future into existence amounted to reading about a person and imagining them to be yourself. In so doing, she made it impossible for me not to have something to communicate. She was a foundation builder. Like countless others, her living has not been in vain.
To the bereaved family: You are so blest to have known and lived with such dignity, sophistication, and flair. She was quite a charming young lady.

To The Family,
I was honored to be one of the chosen students to have Mrs. Clark as my homeroom Teacher at Charles A. Brown High School. A soft spoken professional in her field, she was caring and loving to all and a blessing to the many lives she touched. I will always have special memories of her for all of her encouragement throughout the years. Thank you Eleanor for bringing her to C. A. Brown High Alumni Association Teacher's Appreciation Dinner where we were given the opportunity to let her know how much we loved and appreciated her.

What a wonderful grand lady she was! I had the privilege of being in her class at C A Brown High School. I remember vividly that if a question was posed to Ms Clark and she couldn't get an answer to you right away, you'd better believe before school was out, she would've tracked you down with the answer. I will always remember her. Rest in peace, Ms Clark. You deserve it.
