Helen Youmans Obituary

Helen Virginia Gooding Youmans HAMPTON, SC - Mrs. Helen Virginia Gooding Youmans of Shaw Drive in Hampton, died early Wednesday morning in the Hampton Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Youmans was born in the Miley Community of Hampton County, August 18, 1922 a daughter of the late Dowdy Lloyd "Doc" Gooding and Jessie Lee Freeman Gooding. She had served as Deputy Clerk of Court from 1948 through 1972 and served as Clerk of Court for Hampton County from 1973 through 1992, retiring after 44 years of service. She was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church, and was the widow of Cary Lee Youmans. Surviving are one Daughter: Karen Youmans Couch and husband Neil of Alexandria, Virginia; Grandsons: Jonathan Neil Couch and Christopher Lee Couch; and 2 Great Grandchildren: Caoilainn Anne Couch and Kaylee Lynn Canfield-Couch. Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday in the Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Reid, with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, and Friday until 2 PM when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.
