Helen Wickenhoefer Obituary

Born on April 15, 1937, Helen P. Wickenhoefer was the beloved daughter of the late Carrol and Cynthia Lattime. She grew up in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts, where life's challenges came early, but she met them with strength, grit, and grace. Helen grew up quick and those qualities would become the cornerstone of a life devoted to her loved ones. Helen was married to her lifelong partner and best friend, Douglas R. Wickenhoefer, Sr., for more than 61 years. Together, they built a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and the warmth of a close-knit family. Helen's unwavering dedication to her role as a homemaker was shown in everything she did; from the meals she lovingly prepared, to the clothes she made for her boys, to the comfort she offered simply by being present. Her family always came first, and she never wavered in her commitment to caring for them. She had a passion for crafting and sewing, often pouring her creativity and care into handmade gifts that became treasured keepsakes. Whether it was a carefully stitched quilt or a hand-crafted card, Helen's handiwork was a reflection of her heart: steady, thoughtful, and full of love. Helen was a long-time and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, where her strong will and steadfast spirit were a blessing to those who knew her. Her life was a testament to her faith, her resilience, and her deep love for her family. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends, and all whose lives she touched with her generous heart. She is survived by her loving children: Douglas R. Wickenhoefer, Jr. (Teresa) and Timothy G. Wickenhoefer (LouAnne); her grandchildren: Joe T. Wickenhoefer (Jennifer), Samuel T. Wickenhoefer (Lydia), and Douglas G. Wickenhoefer (Dee Dee); her great grandchildren: Jennie, Rhett, Tate, Noah, Carter, and Emma; her brother, Jacob Lattime; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; her grandson, Timothy G. Wickenhoefer (his mother, Erlinda Caseres, who is living); her siblings: Bumpsy, Carl, and Mazie; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, beginning at 11am at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414. Burial will immediately follow.
