Helen Shipman Obituary

Helen Margaret Shipman MT. PLEASANT - Helen Margaret Shipman, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, widow of Emmett Shipman, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Hospice of Charleston Hospice Center. Mrs. Shipman was born July 15, 1917, the daughter of the late Stephen Drahos and Anna Kristoff Drahos. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ann Macpherson and husband Cluny of Summerville, and Margaret Flikkema and husband Albert of Hastings, Fla.; one son, Steven W. Jones and wife Debi of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Inurnment will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Odyssey Hospice, 5965 Core Road, Suite 603, N. Charleston, SC 29406 or Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, Charleston, SC 29405. The family wishes to extend a personal thank you to the staff at Sweetgrass Memory Care in Mt. Pleasant for their deep concern and compassion, to Odyssey Hospice and Hospice of Charleston for their love and support, and to the Eucharistic Ministers from Christ Our King Church for their loving service.
