Hazel Nettles Obituary

NETTLES, Hazel WALTERBORO - Mrs. Hazel Mundy Nettles, 73, of 78 Davis Circle, Walterboro, died Saturday morning, August 26, 2006, at the Summerville Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, August 28, 2006, in The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. Mrs. Nettles was born November 12, 1932, in Aiken County and was a daughter of the late Johnnie and Vera Able Mundy. She was a retired Emergency Medical Technician with Carolina Ambulance Service and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Walterboro Lodge No. 1988. Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Cary A. Nettles, Jr.; two daughters, Jo Shoupe and Janette Parker both of Tallahassee, Florida; and a son, Jessie Grainger of Benton City, Washington. There are three grandchildren, Kimberly Condit, Jamie Shoupe, and Jessica Bagwell; and six great-grandchildren that also survive. Flowers will be accepted or the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Hwy., Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. this Sunday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843-538-5408.
