Hazel Jones Obituary

Hazel Locklear Jones MT. PLEASANT - Hazel Locklear Jones, 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 28, 2012. Hazel, a Lumbee Indian, was born December 11, 1924 in Lumberton, NC, a daughter of the late Julius Locklear and Annie Lou Sampson Locklear. Hazel was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Her family will miss her excellent baking talents and sense of humor. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Chancie Jones, a WWII veteran, two brothers: Winfred Locklear and Euthard Locklear, two sisters: Gertrude Locklear and Edith Upton. Survivors include one son: Donald Jones and his wife Mona of Irmo, SC and one daughter: Donna Pelletier and her husband Gene of Mt. Pleasant, four grandsons: Ryan Livezey of Atlanta, GA, Patrick Pelletier of Hendersonville, NC, Christopher Pelletier of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Bryan Jones of Columbia, SC, five great-grandchildren, two brothers: Ralph Locklear of Fresno, CA and Earl Locklear of VA, numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, no memorial is planned. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at www.palmettocremationsociety.com.
