Hattie Priester Obituary

PRIESTER, Hattie Hampton, SC - Mrs. Hattie Rebecca Mole Priester, 90, of Hampton, SC, died Saturday evening, November 22, 2008 in the Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro after an extended illness. Born March 5, 1918 in Hampton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Wyman Mole and Susie Harriott Mole. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Hampton Church of God, having joined the church in 1948. Mrs. Priester was a devoted member of the church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher, served as the Treasurer and was also the church pianist. She had devoted her entire life to the service of her God, a devotion that showed in her everyday life, both in the way she lived her life and in the compassion and love that she gave to others. She is survived by four daughters: Carolyn P. Baker and husband Sonny of Moncks Corner, SC, Patsy P. Plumbley and husband Charles of Garden City, GA, Linda P. Strickland and husband J. T. of Fairfax, SC and Rebecca P. Litchfield and husband Tim of Walterboro, SC; three sons: Curtis Priester and wife Diane of Summerville, SC, Danny Priester and wife Beverly of Moncks Corner, SC and Angus Priester and wife Wanda of Varnville, SC; two brothers: Hurley Mole of North Charleston, SC and Jack Mole of Estill, SC and two sisters, Verlie Thomas of Hampton and Marjorie Varn of North Charleston, SC. There are 10 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. She was the widow of Klan W. Priester and was predeceased by her son, Billy Priester and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2PM in Hampton Church of God. Burial will follow in the Sandy Run Cemetery near Hampton. Friends may call at PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME, 300 Mulberry Street West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Monday evening from 5 until 8 PM. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 PM prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials in her honor may be directed to: Hampton Church of God, PO Box 605, Hampton, SC 29924. Carolyn, Aunt Hattie was a special lady. I remember when I was young and living at home how she was always doing things for people. I have fond memories of her. My husband and I will be at the funeral.
