How very sorry I am, Rita, to learn of Harv's death. I have such wonderful, happy memories of our years in Summerville! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.

Sending lotsa love and support to Aunt Rita, Carrie, Alex and grandkids, Aunt Audra and Uncle Mike too! We know Harv is enjoying a cold beer and has settled in to play a few more hands of pinochle.

I first met Harv in 1981 when were both serving at the MCAS El Toro in California. He and I hit it off right away. He re-energized my interest in golf, and got me hooked on woodworking, activities which I have enjoyed in the years since. We played many a round of golf together in those years (1981-1984), and then again in Hawaii where we were both serving at Camp Smith, Hawaii in the 1989-1992 timeframe (despite all the rounds of golf, we never got that much better!). Our families shared quite a few meals and get-togethers during those years in California and Hawaii. Those golf outings and family get-togethers are some of my fondest memories.
After we both retired from the USMC in the late 90's, and settled in separate locations in South Carolina and Virginia, we nevertheless kept in touch to keep abreast of how each was doing and to comically discuss the ills of the stock market and the world in general. Despite his recent-year bouts with serious health problems, he was always positive when I inquired about them.
Harv was a good friend, a good person, a good family man. I will miss him a lot.

I have had the priviledge to know Harv for well over 30 years, and it was very sad to learn of his passing. My husband Mike and I, also a USMC family, were co-located with Harv and Rita a few times over the course of Harv and Mike's military careers. I will remember the fun times we had enjoying cooking on the grill and solving world problems with the help of cold beer!
I first met Carrie when she had just started 1st grade, and our son Chris was just a year or two behind her. I remember watching her grow up, and she was always Daddy's girll, and even though I haven't seen Carrie in many years, I can see the closeness she has with her folks in the photos I come across. The great times we shared with Harv and Rita are most precious memories to me.
