I am Sorry for the Familys Loss. I Loved Mr. Smith, He was my high school ROTC teacher. he was my favorite teacher of all time. He taught me so much and has such great respect for his students. He always gave us the benefit of the doubt. He was also the nicest teacher I had ever had. He was a great man, and I was sad to learn of his passing.

To the family and friends of Harry Smith -

Sgt. Smith, as all of us in GCHS's JROTC program knew him, was a source of profound inspiration through his kindness, wisdom and integrity. It was with great sadness that I received the news of his passing, yet for me it brought to life a flood of fond memories. I can say with certainty that he personally made an impact on my life, and I am forever grateful.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

With kindest sympathies,
Richard Moon, Lt Col, USAF (Ret.)

I had the pleasure of having Sargent Smith as an instructor in JROTC back in the early 80's. I considered hom an extremely insightful man as well as a just overall nice person. I only wish that I had listened to him when I had the chance. I wish all of you in his family well and pray that you your hearts will eventually heal. Sergent Smith will be missed by all who have had the great forune to meet him.

To the family of First Sergeant Smith, I just learned of the passing of the first sergeant and my thoughts and prayers go out to you. First sergeant smith had such a tremendous impact on my life instilling the values of duty honor and country and made me become the man I am today. His selfless service to his country and then to the students he taught is the reason he was my hero throughtout my life. He was like a father to us all and a friend always there when we needed him and the world has lost one of their greatest hero's.

To the Smith Family,

It is with a heavy heart to hear this news and it is my wish that God's love be with you and all your family. He was and still is affectionately known as Sgt. Smith, he was a caring and friendly person and this world will be be a lesser place without him. He helped instill values into the lives of so many young people, a trait not found so often today. After four years of knowing him, I salute him and know he will forever be with the angels.

Smith family,

I was deeply saddened to hear of First Sergeant Smith passing. My time under his instruction in JROTC at Goose Creek High will forever be cherished memories.
Sergeant Smith was an incredible instructor filled stories from past experience.
These life lessons were shared with us on many occasions, think we all have a special
place in our heart for them. My heart goes out to your family.

I was in JROTC for all 3 of my years at GCHS (Class of 86) and Harry was always the most kind and thoughtful teacher I had. I have very fond memories of him and now there is now a little less light in the world.

His service to our country in multiple wars and to the students of GCHS for all of those years will never be forgotten as long as even one of his students still live.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. He was such an influence on so many kids and I was one. I remember all of the stories he used to tell and all of the advice he would give us. He was the quiet instructor, always manning the JROTC window for us to get our goodies ( and much needed funds to take care of us!)and all of the good times we all shared.
