Harry Hofmann Obituary

HOFMANN, Harry Harry Erich Hofmann, 78, a resident of North Charleston, went home to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer on Friday, August 15, 2008. Harry was born August 31, 1929 in Talheim, Germany, the son of the late Erich Hofmann and Ella Queitzsch Hofmann. Harry received his BS Degree in Arts and Math from Braunschweig, Germany. He was a self employed restoration specialist from Germany who has resided in the USA since 1959. Formerly of Ohio, Harry moved to Charleston after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. His talents were vital to Charleston's Restoration. He attended Doorway Baptist Church. Harry enjoyed fishing, blue grass music, collecting clowns, visiting his family, and crafting furniture and toy figurines like the Nutcracker. He took a lot of pride in his yard and pool. He is survived by his wife, Maggie Davis Hofmann of North Charleston; four daughters, Dagmar Hancock and husband, Jim, Angelika Lederer and husband, Jim, and Heidi Roll and husband, Todd, all of Ohio, and Tami Parker and husband, Jon, of Michigan; two sons, Hans Hofmann and wife, Mary, and Mike Hofmann and wife, Debbie, all of Ohio; a brother, Uwe Hofmann of Germany; a sister, Edith Nicholaus of Germany; seven grandsons; six granddaughters; one great-grandson; one great granddaughter; and his beloved Rat Terriers, Huf 'n' Puf. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Tilo Hofmann of Germany. The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008, at eleven o'clock. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Monday, August 18, 2008, between six and eight o'clock.
