Harry Handy Obituary

HANDY, Harry

Entered into eternal rest on Thursday November 24, 2005, Harry Gray Handy widower of Eleanor Gore Handy. Hr. was born in Camden, NJ a son of the late Harry Monroe Handy and Edna Gray Handy on September 20, 1916. Mr. Handy was a graduate of Cambridge High School in Maryland. He honorably served in the United States Navy and retired after thirty-two years. He enlisted as a Seaman Apprentice and attained the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a Prisioner of War from 1941 until 1945. Mr. Handy was a member of the Low Country POW Chapter, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed sailing, fishing and hunting. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara H. Carter of Charleston and Margaret H. Barron and her husband Alex of Knoxville, TN; a nephew, Gene A. Theroux of Salisburg, MD and a niece, Margaret Fehrs of Cambridge, MD. Funeral services and burial will take place in Cambridge, Maryland. Memorials may be made to Old St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Preservation Fund, 2604 Ashley River Rd., Charleston, SC 29414. Arrangements by James A.
