Harris Howard Obituary

Harris Franklin Howard SUMMERVILLE - Harris Franklin Howard, 65, of Summerville, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the Hospice Center of Charleston. A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 12, 2010, at 2 o'clock at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 12:30 until 1:30 o'clock on Sunday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406 or the Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405. Harris was born May 10, 1945, in Darlington County, South Carolina, son of the late Robert Walker Howard and Lila Mae Elliott Howard. He attended schools in Darlington County. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and he retired as a truck driver. Surviving are five sisters, Evline H. Smith of Summerville, Joyce A. McKenzie of Hartsville, SC, M. Dottie Brim of Asheville, NC, Mary Jo Knight of Summerville, and Louise E. Caulder of Asheville, NC; one brother, Henry T. Howard of McBee, SC; two half-sisters, Maggie Ola McCuthen of Darlington, SC and Donna Mae Hardy of Turbeville, SC. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert W. Howard.
