Harold Warmuth Obituary

Harold "Ed" Warmuth MT. PLEASANT - Harold "Ed" Warmuth, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. passed away at home on March 14, 2023 at the age of 75. Ed became a resident of the Charleston area in 1973 after moving from his hometown of Alpine, N.J. A graduate of Stevens Academy in Hoboken, N.J., he then joined the US Air Force, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He served in San Sebastian, Spain as an electronics and communications expert. Ed's time in Spain was one of his more memorable experiences while in the Air Force. After his honorable discharge, Ed returned to New Jersey where he met the love of his life, Linda, on Long Beach Island. Ed and Linda decided to tour the country to find their lifelong spot. While they only visited Charleston for a few days, they both fell in love with the area and were able to connect instantly with what would become many wonderful and long-time friends. Ed became a well-known contractor, building new homes and renovating historic properties. Ed's very successful business employed several long-term employees and subcontractors. His meticulous attention to the smallest detail resulted in high quality work that was extremely satisfying to his customers. Ed's varied interests resulted in passionate attention to each of his hobbies, including furniture building, fishing, bird watching and reading. He especially enjoyed such classic Southern authors as Faulkner and the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Fantuzzo, his sister, Susan Beal, nephew, James Lloyd, niece, Lauren Warmuth, sister-in-law, Robin Meara and Linda's brothers, James and John Fantuzzo. Ed was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice Dunn, father, Harold Warmuth and brother, Andrew Warmuth. A memorial service will be held at the Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting St., Charleston on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to Birds of Prey, Avian Conservation Center, P.O. Dear Linda,

We will always treasure the wonderful memories the four of us made together as long-time friends. Over many years, Charlie enjoyed his work with Ed as one of those subcontractors you mentioned in his obituary. He also rented a warehouse space from Ed and looked forward to his personal calls to discuss the stock market as well as other things. Whenever we look at one of your many paintings hanging in our home, we will remember the love you two shared, the pride he took in your work and that wonderful, warm, sweet smile. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Charlie and Libby

Had lots of good chats with Ed over the fence. We both had a love/hate relationship for the Hickory tree. Loved it for it´s beauty and weren´t all that happy for its debris of leaves and nuts. RIP Ed and Linda if you need anything Becky and I are just over the fence.

Our deepest condolences and prayers. Ed has helped both Mom and myself throughout all the years of our being neighbors and we were blessed to know him. Linda, prayers and comfort and strength to you. May the great memories bring some peace and comfort and lift the sadness eventually.

We miss you Ed. Rest in peace.

Sincerely,
Barbara Weaver and Lisa Weaver
