Sam Lassiter

When I found out Harold was admitted to Trident Hospital I went to visit him the next morn, Saturday, the 4th. He was not there and the hospital staff would tell me anything. I got this sinking feeling in my stomach and inquired from my church when I got home. I was then told that we lost Harold the evening prior. Yep, you can be sure I purchased and read his book "Cold War Fighter Pilot" and he signed my copy. Harold and I had a lot in common. I was U.S.A.F. 1971-1979 and served in northern Thailand during the Vietnam war in 72-73. I also wrote my book through LuLu.com titled as "F-4 Phantom Crew Chief - Sam Lassiter's Vietnam Saga". We were both Ham Radio operators; his call sign "W4NVO" and mine "KD4CDI". I have over 1,000 QSOs using Morse code and worked all 50 states and about as many foreign countries. I flew from 1995-2003 as a private pilot, and just wished I could have gotten to know Harold better. Ah, but life is simply too short. Looking forward to seeing him again ..... in God's time. May God bless and comfort family.

Captain Hal Wade W4NVO
Hal, through the years, you have taught me many things about not only radio communications, but life in general. You have been a friend and mentor to not only me, but many people. My precious wife spoke so highly of you many times. You and I loved the same things our wives, our radios, our flying experiences, but mostly, our God. You are with him now, enjoying the freedom of no pain, and in the company of your sweet Kathy. Rest well Capt. Well done good and faithful servant, well done. Our thought and prayers go with his family. May our Lord give you peace and comfort.
