Harold Pittman Obituary



PITTMAN, Harold The relatives and friends of Mr. Harold Lucius Pittman, 82, of Charleston, SC, are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at noon in Zion Olivet Presbyterian Church/USA, 134 Cannon St., in Charleston. The body will lie in state an hour before the service. Family visitation is Friday, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Mr. Pittman was the youngest son of the late Eugene and Nancy Pittman. He was born in Saint Andrews Parish in Charleston, SC, on September 6, 1926. His siblings included Morant, Herbert, Frank, Avery, Clifford, Edmund, Daniel, Eugene, Lawya and William. He graduated from Avery Institute. He followed the tradition of some of his brothers, becoming a well-known master brick mason in Charleston and in Philadelphia, PA. His specialty was his brickwork on home fireplaces. He went to see the Master on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. He spent his last days in the Driftwood Nursing Center where he especially enjoyed the worship services opportunities for the Bible Study and music. He leaves behind his daughters Linda Rousseau (Alan), Harriet Cochran (Rudolph), Kathleen Dolaman (Wayne) of Bridgeville, PA, Gail Pittman of Midlothian, VA and Victoria Pittman, Cheryl Pittman-Snipe of Lewisville, TX, Sandra and Shekera Northington of Philadelphia, PA; his sons Steven Pittman (Katherine) of Ohio, Maurice and Melik Northington of Philadelphia, PA; and his sister Eliza Terry of Charleston, SC. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Pittman also made time and had love for over a hundred nieces and nephews who returned that time and love especially in his last years. Visit our guestbook at www.charleston.net/deaths.

Harriet and family - Deepest sympathies are extended from myself and the Rivers family. Mr. Pittman was my father's roommate at Driftwood. He was such a very pleasant and kind man.
