Harold Davis Obituary

Harold Davis Johns Island - Mr. Harold Devon Davis, 67, husband of Mrs. Rita Davis, of Johns Island, SC, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Arthur Leon Davis and Ruby DeLoach Davis. A loving father and devoted husband He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting and was a member of Pine Land Sportsman Hunt Club. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially #88. Most of all he loved spending time with his brother at Davis Garage Inc. Harold was preceded in death by a son, Howie Hamilton, a daughter, Lori Baker, a brother, Arthur Davis and two sisters, Francis Murray and Minnie Gaskins. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Rita Davis. He was a devoted and loving father to a son, Marty Hickman (Theresa) and three daughters, Cynthia Smith (Ronnie), Tammy Canady (Dennis) and Lisa Prine. He is also survived by four brothers, Ruben Davis (Bernnie), Marion Smith (Shirley), Ronald Davis and Wallace Davis; 11 grand children; 12 great-grand children. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd., Charleston, SC 29414. The family would like to thank Dr. George Giles and his staff at Charleston Hematology Oncology Associates. We are sorry to hear of your loss. Harold and Bernard worked together. He also worked on the church buses. He was a good guy. He always made you laugh. Trust in the Lord and He will see you through your time of bereavement. Always cherish the memories that you have of him.
