Hal Brinson Obituary

Hal Brinson CHARLESTON - Hal Charlton Brinson, Sr., of Charleston, husband of Helen Groves Brinson, passed into his eternal life with his Lord Jesus on the night of Monday, April 25, 2011. He was born on April 10, 1933, in Berkeley County, South Carolina, the son of James Brinson and Maggie Parker Brinson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Hal C. Brinson, Jr. and his daughter Deborah Dee Brinson, step-son Kisler Groves and his wife Cindy, grandchildren Chris Groves King and her husband Jamye, Trey Groves and his wife Danielle, Eric Groves and his wife Julie and great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Zoe King, all of Charleston. Also surviving are his brother James Robert Brinson and his wife Theresa of Long Island, New York, his sisters, Marilyn Watts of Paducah, Kentucky, Geraldine Graham, Jeanette LeCroy and Annette Cox, all of Charleston, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Evelyn Jessen of Birmingham, Alabama and Sandra Knece of Charleston. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honored to serve as a special bodyguard for General Maxwell Taylor. He was retired from Pepsi, Inc. after 31 years. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of St. Andrews Parish. Hal was a devoted son, husband, father and brother and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He was valued by those who knew him as a man of extraordinary intellect, courage, strength and sweetness. A visitation for Hal Brinson will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011, from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 269 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401. My dear Uncle so loving and kind always there when you needed him.

Every year at Christmas when our children were little we would go by Uncle Hals house about 8:00pm Christmas night so the children could see the Large Snowman and Santa out on the porch.Uncle Hal love for the children to come see the Snowman and Santa.The Santa and Snowman were so big and they moved up and down.Jennifer and George would want to go by twice.

I am so sorry to hear that Mr Brinson has passed. I am a student nurse at Trident Tech and had the priveledge of caring for Mr Brinson while he was at Kindred. I was truly blessed to have known him for just a short time. So sorry for your loss and may God bless and keep your family during this time of sorrow.
