H. Ackerman Obituary

Hogel Carroll Ackerman, 80, of Shulerville, SC, a retired Combat Missile Systems Engineer for Detyens Shipyard, died Thursday afternoon in a Ridgeland hospice facility. His funeral service will be 4:00 PM Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2025, at the graveside in the Halfway Creek Church Cemetery, with military honors and Masonic Rites. Interment will follow, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Flowers will be accepted, or the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Attn: Gift Processing, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209. Mr. Ackerman was born October 31, 1944, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of Clarence Ackerman and Eula Lee Lambert Ackerman. He attended Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Berkeley Shrine Club, the Omar Wheelers, the American Legion, and was also a member of the Harpers Masonic Lodge #225 AFM, Andrews. Mr. Ackerman worked for the department of defense for 30 years and proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, and he also served in the National Guard. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, barbequing hogs, tending to his farm, and spending time with his family and friends, but especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was fortunate to have been able to see the world as he traveled extensively for his job. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ackerman was preceded in death by a grandson, Hampton Wyndham, and a brother, Carnell Ackerman. Surviving are two daughters, Robin Ackerman Gray of Shulerville, and Stacie Brinson of Moncks Corner; a sister, Linda Ackerman of Jamestown; a brother, Joe Ackerman of Jamestown; three grandchildren, George W. White, Jr., Robert Anthony "Tony" Talbert, and Brittany Carolyn Childress; and three great grandchildren, George, Ruby and Ryen, and a fourth, Gentry Hampton, who is due in October.
