Grace Zagami Obituary

Grace Marie Zagami Summerville - Grace Marie Zagami, 86, of Summerville, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 10 am to 11am at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church of Summerville where social distancing and masks will be observed. A memorial Mass will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 1100 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Grace was born on December 3, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Zagami. Grace graduated from South Boston High School and received her nursing degree from Capital City School of Nursing in Washington, DC. Grace served as a nurse in the United States Army for 26 years. She received several honors including The Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding performance of duty. After retiring as a Major she continued her nursing career in the private sector and ultimately retired as a school nurse in Dorchester District 2. Grace is survived by her longtime friend, Marty Turney, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings: Mary Previti, Nancy Korey, Josephine Jordan, Sadie, Laura, Anthony, Alfred, Salvatori and Joseph Zagami.
