Grace Sports Obituary

Grace Powell Sports Andrews, SC - Grace Powell Sports, 97, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015, at her residence. Mrs. Sports was born September 26, 1918 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Murray M. Powell and Odell Godwin Powell. She lived her entire life in Andrews was a member of Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years and a former Worthy Matron. Mrs. Sports sold Avon until she was ninety-three and also worked for the Tupperware Co. for a time. Mrs. Sports was predeceased by: her husband, Edward Lavere Sports; three brothers, Willard Powell (Sadie), LaGrand Powell and Durant Powell; and a son-in-law, Rembert Blakely. Surviving are: a daughter, Delores Sports Blakely of Andrews; a granddaughter, Valarie Blakely of Andrews; a grandson, Charlton Blakely (Ann) of Andrews; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Blakely of Florence and Hal Blakely of Andrews. Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, November 9, 2015, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Murray Powell and the Rev. Jerry Fennell. Burial and will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfueralhome.com. The family will receive friends at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, prior to the service from one until two. Delores would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to all of the neighbors, friends, Amedisys Hospice care givers, Samaritan's Purse, and Dr. Troy Gable, who have been such a big part of mothers life.
