Gordon Griffin Obituary

Gordon Lee Griffin N. CHARLESTON - Gordon Lee Griffin, age 86, of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born in Bridgeport AL on November 26th, 1925 to the late Orville and Jeanette Griffin. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and loved to dance. He was an avid golfer. He was a mason and was a member of Dorchester Masonic Lodge # 369. He served his country in the United States Navy. He served in World War II and Korea on the USS Gilmore and other ships as an Engineman and retired after 25 years service. He was a beloved father and is survived by his sons: Mickey Lee Griffin of Sarasota FL, and Gary Caldwell Griffin of North Charleston SC; daughter: Kathy Griffin Myers of Jacksonville Fl; and brother: James L. Griffin of Bridgeport AL. Funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 13th 2012 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Gordon Griffin to the Animal Shelter of Remount Road, 2455 Remount Rd, North Charleston, SC 29406. To Gordons Family:
I knew Gordon from Arthur Murray Dance Studios.in the 90's...we shared many great times there for many years and yes indeed he did love to dance. I always thought he was such a fine gentleman and enjoyed knowing him all those fun-filled years. May you have many wonderful memories to last you a lifetime. He was well liked by everyone and such a fine man please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this very sad time
