Glory Schaefer Obituary

Glory Campbell Schaefer Charleston - Glory Campbell Schaefer, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of William John Schaefer, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 13, 2022. Her family will hold a private service in Old St. Andrews Parish Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel. Glory Greta Teresa was born January 2, 1932, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of the late Wilfred Campbell and Daisy Hartlen Campbell. They moved shortly after her birth to Ottawa, Canada, where her father had an exciting career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the Special Branch. Later she married her husband, Bill, who served as the Regional Director of NCIS. Glory moved to different countries and many different states with her family, including Virginia where she worked for the Fairfax County Registrar of Voters Office. She was well known for her humor and quick wit. She loved to play bridge, work the N.Y. Times crossword puzzle, and treasured her weekends playing board games and cards with her family. She had a very generous heart for those in need and was a voracious reader, never getting enough of books. She will be missed terribly by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Toussaint (Wayne) of Charleston, SC; her son, Thomas Schaefer (Shannon) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Stephens Schaefer (Liz), Paige Furey (Joe), and John Schaefer (Cassidy); a daughter-in-law, Lynne Schaefer (Mahlone); several beloved great-grandchildren; and step-grandchildren, Tony, Luke, and Sarah. She was preceded in death by a son, John Schaefer; and a grandson, Will Schaefer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the Office of Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I'm sorry to read of Glory's death. We played bridge as neighbors in Huntington Woods and reconnected as residents at Harmony Senior Services. My thoughts are with her family.
