Gloria Mitchell Obituary

Gloria Helen Mitchell HOLLYWOOD, SC - Gloria Helen Mitchell, of Hollywood South Carolina, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend; left this world suddenly the morning of July 29, 2021. She was 73 years old. In the Summer of 1948, Gloria Helen Miller was born to the late Ava S. Miller of Budapest and American William A. Miller in Germany. Her childhood was laced with travel across Europe. Along with her siblings, Gloria spent most of her childhood in Lahore, Pakistan, where her father worked at the United States Embassy. Having met in 1981, Gloria and her husband, John, have spent the last 40 years together, having been married 36 of them. Graduating Canisius College of Buffalo, New York with a degree in accounting, Gloria pursued a career as an Auditor, first with SCEG and later with JC Penny Corporate. Gloria, along with her husband, John, established Star Food Service Inc where she acted as President. Gloria was an avid cook, a lover of a good martini, a specialist at holiday decorating and always up for laughter well into the early morning of any night. Gloria loved to travel whether in Europe or domestically. Her favourite mode of transportation and source of many fond memories were made on the "Miss Gloria" as the family and friends traveled by yacht from Maine to the Bahamas annually and extensivley. She was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Both she and her husband, Charlie, have been honoured by the Gamecock Nation for their devoted support of Game Cock Athletics. The Mitchell Family Gate at Williams Brice Stadium will honour her perpetually. Gloria is survived by her Husband, John Charles Mitchell, Jr. Her loving children James D. Callesto and his wife, Stephanie of Beaumont, Texas; Sandy A. Jones of Summerville, SC; Chuck Mitchell of Charleston, SC; Michael A. Mitchell and his husband, R. Tyler Hill of Charleston, SC; Jeffrey C Mitchell and his wife, Jessica Mitchell of Hollywood, SC. Grandchildren, Kylee C. Dunaway, Daniel Callesto, Haily A. Jones, Sara Mitchell, Chase Mitchell, Josie Mitchell and Jane Mitchell. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Gloria is mourned by her siblings, Mary Ann Smith, Jerry and Sharon Miller, Michael Miller, and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Lolie Ward. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021, 10:30 am at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home in Wallterboro, South Carolina.. As a Army Vereran. I wanted to express my sencer condolences on the passing of a fellow veteran. Whom served our country with honor and distinguished service for four years. My condolences on the passing of a wonderful woman and dearest friend for 41 years. I know she is now sitting next to our Lord and Savior in eternal love and peace in heaven. She is looking down on us all. Saying in our hearts. I love you all. While I will be waiting when all of us meet again with our God in heaven for eternal life. God bless you Gloria.
