Gloria Leal Obituary

Gloria Cantu Leal, 72, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas.

Gloria was born on September 17, 1942 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Martin and Theodora (Liguez) Cantu. She married Adolfo Leal, Sr. on May 20, 1959 in Gonzales Texas at the Redbridge Ranch House. She loved to babysit her great-grandchildren while watching General Hospital, scary movies, and I Love Lucy on TV. She enjoyed going out for breakfast in the mornings, and going to Lupita's on Friday and Saturday evenings. She enjoyed getting her hair done every Friday. Adolfo and Gloria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows on May 26, 2010 with Father Paul Raaz officiating at Herman & Sons in Gonzales, Texas.

She is survived by her husband; Adolfo, Sr., one son Adolfo "Doonie" Leal, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of New Braunfels, Texas, one daughter; Diane Amejorado and her husband, Tony of Port Lavaca, Texas, two grandsons; Derek Leal and his wife, Destiny of New Braunfels, Texas, Bryan Villarrreal of Gonzales, Texas, two granddaughters; Jennifer Leal of Gonzales, Texas, Brittney Villarreal of Gonzales, Texas, four great-grandsons; Joey, Cody, Devin, Kayden, six great-granddaughters; Aubrey, Allisah, Aalyiah, Arianna, Miah, Allee, two brothers; Raul Cantu, of Three Rivers, Texas, Alvin Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, one sister; Flora Staton of Gonzales, Texas, and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Martin and Theodora Cantu, one son; Adolfo Leal, four brothers; Martin Cantu, Jr., Adam Cantu, Salvador Cantu, Pete Cantu, five sisters; Dora Rodriguez, Euelia Ramos, Rosa Longoria, Minnie Casarez, and Mary Ann Perez.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Leal will be; Derek Leal, Bryan Leal, Benny Leal, Tommy Leal, Robert Leal, and Albert Leal.

I recall my parents and Mr. and Mrs. Leal taking all of us (me and my brothers; their two grandkids) to Chuck E. Cheese when we were little. The car was a bit crowded but we had a great time. I am very sorry for your loss but know that her love remains with each and every one of you.
