Glenda Khachigian Obituary

Glenda Khachigian Glenda Lee Khachigian passed away peacefully on November 6, 2014 at the age of 77. Glenda was born in March, 1937 in Bakersfield, California, to Glen and Marie Linnell Hartley. She moved to Visalia, California, in 1962, where she met her husband of 52 years, Luther Khachigian, and raised five children. She followed her passion by founding and running a successful interior design business for more than 20 years, her talents gracing numerous residences and businesses in Tulare, Kings, Fresno, San Luis Obispo and San Francisco Counties. She also served on the Board of Directors of the family-owned Cal-Western Farming Co. since 1970 and was a founder and member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Visalia. Following retirement, Glenda split her time living between Visalia and her beloved Cayucos, California, with her husband and kitties. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends (especially her "Ya-Yas" and her bridge club), cooking and entertaining, playing bridge, gardening and shopping for antiques, among other things. In addition to her husband, Glenda is survived by son, Grant Hickson and his wife Debbie; daughter, Teresa Khachigian-Ritchie and her husband, Tom; daughter, Elizabeth Michele Khachigian and her husband, Jim Ryan; son, Luther Khachigian (II); granddaughter, Carri Hickson DeMarta and her husband Dustin; granddaughter, Melissa Hickson Thorpe and her husband, Brandon; granddaughter, Alexis Hickson; grandsons, Andrew and Craig Ritchie; great-granddaughters, Skylar and Ryleigh Thorpe; great-grandson, Tyler Joseph DeMarta; brother, Jess Hartley; brother-in-law, Mel Khachigian; brother-in-law, Ken Khachigian and his wife Meredith; and numerous family members, friends and caregivers. She was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Marie Hickson in 2005. A memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, November 9, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 962 Piney Way, Morro Bay. Friends and family also are invited to join in a celebration of Glenda's life on Saturday, November 29, at The Vintage Press in Visalia beginning at noon.
